A 1920s village rug from the Sarab area in northwest Persia.
Herati patterns on the dark blue ground are surrounded by borders with hooked motifs. The colours include green, grey-green, pink, blue, red and a very pale yellow.
One end retains the flat weave in a band of pink and a band of natural off white. The other end still retains part of the original banding and is largely intact.
Slight wear in places, small split to top left hand side but overall good condition for its age.
