
A pretty and characterful early twentieth century Afshar rug from the Kerman area in southeast Persia.
Pale blue field with large centre terracotta medallion; inner dark blue medallion with central terracotta hooked medallion; various filler ornaments of medallions, rosettes, flowerheads and vases. Narrow ivory main border of linked hooked vase-type motifs within terracotta and pale blue running dog guards. Soft palette.
Evenly low pile, refringed ends, a slight wrinkle at one end but overall good condition.
