A lovely late twentieth century Heriz carpet from northwest Persia.
Mid blue field with all over vertical rows of offset medallions; wide light red main border of large stylised flowerheads; polychrome zigzag striped guard. Extensive abrash (deliberate colour variation) introduces a lot of liveliness to the design.
Small repair to lower end of left selvedge. Otherwise excellent, thick pile and good condition.
This is a fantastic furnishing piece in an almost square size and with a lively pattern that will work in almost any space without the danger of overwhelm.
