
An antique late 19th century Kurdish Sa'uj Bulagh rug from Mahabad, just to the south of Lake Urmia in east Kurdistan.
Chocolate brown to dark blue field with two columns of linked hexagons divided by a central column of white floral medallions. Deep yellow/apricot main border of flowerheads, chocolate brown outer border of flowerheads, inner medachyl guard in terracotta and green.
Rich palette, lustrous wool though with loss to edges and patches of wear to base as one would expect from a rug of this age. Soft handle, underlay recommended.
